About

I made a trip to Europe this summer. I began the plans last February and I told my story and I used a lot of words and even more photos, so many in fact, that I ran out of room on my blog “Rosemarie in Europe 2013”. I had just arrived in Venice when I ran out of space. Thus this new blog which easily allows me to finish the tale without having to make difficult and time-stealing changes to the previous blog. So my story picks up in Venice, Italy. If you want to hear about the travels prior, you can see them at www.rosemcereg.wordpress.com . They include Zurich, Konstanz, Luzern, and an entire six-day hike through the Dolomites of northern Italy…Fast forward about 11 months and I’m ready to go abroad again. This time to southern Africa. The remainder of this blog will chronicle my three days in Cape Town, South Africa, my 10-day safari in Botswana, and finish with my resort stay at Victoria Falls, Zambia. I’m excited.

My goodness! I didn’t know that you could run out of room! Love that your last blog was “award free” because visits and comments suffice. Agreed! And you’re photos are beautiful!

Thank you for the compliment. I didn’t know that you could run out of room either. But you learn as you go. All of my blogs are “award free”. I just haven’t marked the others yet.

Dear Rosemarie, I just had to write and tell you how absolutely riveted I have been to your gorgeous images! Wow! I don’t even know what adjectives to use. I am a Safari Consultant and arrange custom trips for people all over Africa with an award winning company (National Geographic, Condé Nast etc.) You would be GREAT at leading tours or just photographing various places in Africa. I can’t even imagine the shots you would bring home. Please keep sharing and if you’re ever interested in taking a group or traveling to my beloved Africa, feel free to contact me! Thank you for this beautiful feast!

OOoooooooo…Thank you for the compliment. I appreciate your kind words. If I could make a living photographing or leading tours, I would do it. Africa is on my bucket list. I became interested in it through the Number One Ladies Detective Agency series of books set in Botswana. (I don’t know how true to life that is). I am also an animal lover and would love to do a photography safari. Presently I am considering Japan. I have a former student who lives there, and I have never been to the Orient. Gotta save my money for my travel passion. And of course, I will remember your company when contemplating a trip to Africa.

Oh I so loved those books! They really are pretty true to life. Well they certainly capture the spirit of Botswana and it’s people. I too would love to see Japan. You’ll have a wonderful experiences, I’m sure. Thank you for thinking of me & when the time comes let me know. I’d love to consult you on Africa! Keep up this fantastic work. I’m a fan!

Thank you so much for your comments. I just got my first DSLR camera before I left for Europe, and I am so glad that you think I got good results with it. Re: Africa. I have perused your site (which is very enticing). However, it seems the safaris are all quite expensive, even before the flight cost is added.

Thank you very much for the nomination, Jane. I’m glad you have enjoyed reading my posts. However, I will decline because I find I do not have the time to follow all of the instructions for the award. I do appreciate your interest. Rosemarie

        Hi Rosemarie-
You are welcome, and the nomination is well deserved! However, I can appreciate your time factor concerns… it did take me a bit longer to complete the requirements than I thought it would.

My interest in your posts remains. In fact, I mentioned your story last weekend in a conversation with one of my classmates in my Naturalist class. She is recently returned from her travels in Africa. You would have been delighted with the glow that came over her as she recounted the magnificent adventure she experienced during her three week journey there! Jane

It’s me again- with an apology… I missed the comment at the top of this stack. Had I seen it, I would have respected your request. I’m learning as as I go with blogging and really like your point of view about awards… visits and comments are really the most rewarding part of the blogging experience. I would like to adopt your point-of-view as I grow in this venture. Thank you, Rosemarie. Kind regards, Jane

No problem. Responding to your previous comment about your friend who had returned from Africa…several people have told me that the experience changes you. How can it not? I have googled the camps where I will be staying in Botswana, and there is nothing visible except a landing strip. This will be my first trip ever so far from “civilization”.

That… does sound like a life-changing experience. I can only imagine that it will be incredible!!!!!

(When you visit me next, I’m pleased to tell you I noted that my blog is “award free”. The note is at the bottom of the screen- in the bottom bar as a caption with the award logo. Thank you again.)

That will simplify your life. Blogging is an avocation for me. Fulfilling requirements for an award is too much like work. 🙂
