Hello again. Dumela. I have not posted on this blog for a couple of months. Well, I was on safari in Botswana for ten days in July, and what an experience that was! The best vacation ever? I’ve thought that about many of my vacations over the years. How can you describe the feeling of living out in nature, living in the territory that belongs to the animals? There is nothing else like it. When I arrived home and finally stuck those SD cards in the computer to see what I had, I stared at the screen in awe as I felt such a pull and such a feeling of homesickness for this beautiful country, this beautiful continent. I took almost 7000 photos and just completed the first round of organizing and editing on my photo website. This photo sums up a lot for me. I took it on one of my last nights in the bush outside of Linyanti Camp. That golden light. It is so essentially Africa. And the elephants. I saw so many and never tired of them. Our very first sighting in the Okavango Delta was a elephant walking through the water in front of our boat. That left me utterly speechless.
I don’t know if I will have another opportunity to travel this way again. I am very thankful that I made this trip. My life experience would have been greatly diminished without it. Africa forever!

Dumela. I did not try mopane worms. They were not offered. I even asked our guide if he ate them. He replied that he was a desert boy and never ate them. 🙂

Thank you, Jane. I love elephants too. The zoom lens performed magic for me in Africa. Though we were far away from the animals in the safety of the Land Cruiser, it brought them within a few feet in the camera.

Thanks so much. My safari was life altering. I didn’t know how much I would love Africa, and I have been absent from the blogosphere for a while. I hope to post eventually about my experiences, but another event in my life has taken precedence, and that is the arrival of my first grandchild. I am busy at the moment trying to complete a knitted baby blanket. I’m taking a lot of baby photos now. 🙂 Rosemarie
